(edit: I STARTED writing this in the airport, finishing here now in PPC)
It was a pretty good weekend in Manila for me. Got to spend much quality time with the people I love dearly. And I got to eat non-palawan, non-"low-calorie", real, good food.
I started off with a great start on Saturday morning where I had my favorite Corned Beef Meal from Jollibee, as well as a very heavy lunch at the Fernandezes.
For dinner, Trina and I drove to Rockwell to catch a late night movie before meeting up with good friends in Cable Car.
In Rockwell we headed off to the restos section where were took a twice-over trip, end-to-end, to check decide where to eat. It was a a no-contest though, and it was clearly Cafe Med.
tried taking a photo of the place but I only had a phone cam with me.

Soupe de Pistou
That's a weird photo. Well, it's supposed to be this tomato based soup, with several kinds of beens an potato marbles. Trina's pretty big on soup, so getting her approval on this is something. We order this 100% of the time we're at CafMed.
Beef Kebab Pizza
This one was really good. I mean really good. I eat everything, and everything is really good food to me, but this was REALLY good. Seriously. The combination of beef kebab, garlic sauce, crispy pita bread and cheese was perfect. You know that after taste you get from eating kebab? That beefy, oh-so-muscular feel, that moment you feel like you just want to ride off the sunset on a strong, healthy camel? Yeah. That feeling? Well you take that, and combine it with that feeling you get when you eat pizza, when you feel like everything around you stops, when you feel like a kid again, eating with your soiled hands, playing in the garden? That feeling combined with the camel riding feeling?
Is nothing. Take those, combine em and shove it up your candy mutherf*in' ass. This was so good I wanted to marry the chef. But HE took off in a Camel.
Moussaka
I initially wanted the eggplant parmigiana but Trina thumbscrewed me into trying this one this time. This too was fantastic. It was pretty similar to the parmigiana, but was more like shepherd's pie too. Plus, it was made by that Camel riding chef so it was, needless to say, delectable. The beans too were great. They were nice and firm, and a bit crunchy still, like they were raw, but really weren't. They were a bit sour because of some vineger and garlic it was cooked into, which was okay because it was anti-"umay". The pita were just saling-pusa.
Why? Because I f*in spread the Mousakka on my beef kebab pizza slice. And then I was in heaven. But then I had unfinished business on earth so they stamped me a return ticket and then I was infront of Trina again.
We then grabbed some FIC before heading off to the movies.
We saw Dear John after, which was okay. I'm not going to write about it since maybe some of you (my imaginary followers) might want to watch it.
After the movie we drove off to Cable Car, where Trina had lots and lots of fun with a plastic cup of inexpensive manly vodka and sprite, and 3 glasses of Kurrant 7.
SUNDAY
I got up Sunday morning at around 1130, my head still ringing from all the partying the night before. My mom then woke me up to call me for lunch. We had lunch at my mom's small porch, if you can call it that. (hahaha). It was great because it was all windy and s*t. She served dahon ng kamoteng kahoy salad which was mixed with sweet vinegar, some onions and red tomatoes, inihaw na bangus, and binagoongang baboy.
WTF. I gained all the weight I "lost" the past two weeks.
I did a bit of working on my numbers and then decided to see Trina again since I couldn't stand not seeing her. (Hahaha).
I drove to their house for dinner. While waiting, we shared a Toblerone white (sorry Jiggy, next time give Trina samples.)
I was pretty hungry since I've only had one meal for the day. It was great when Tita Gene called us down to eat dinner. Check it:
Beef giniling with potatoes, carrots, and bell pepper, Tocino, and some sinigang ribs
Dinner was again, perfect. I had 2 servings of the rice and giniling, and sinigang. I wanted to get some more tocino but I chose not to, since it was really sweet and oily. Damnit, just the way I liked it.
For dessert we had some moist chocolate cake:
After dinner, we did a bit of walking. Walked for around 30mins so we can burn of a spoon of this Muther*in cake.
MONDAY
I didn't have breakfast since I was running late for the office. It was going to be a pretty long day, so we had early lunch in Rose and Grace, where we had Sinigang na Lapulapu sa miso, burong labanos, adobong balunbalunan, and roast chicken. Light lunch lang. hehehehe.
Merienda was great too. I had two bowls of beefy soup Ian's mom made since it was his birthday. It was great with Laguna putong keso too. It was fantastic. Did I say I had two?
For dinner I had Asado and a cup of rice, with a bit of mongo, since I wasn't really hungry anymore. Plus I haven't been running so I didn't want to put on unnecessary weight by eating excess calories. (naks).
TUESDAY
Today I flew into PPC from Manila. It was a pretty normal day in the airport:
Terminal 3
Today I flew Cebu Pac since I didn't have tickets for PAL. It was okay since I don't really mind flying Cebu Pac. What I hate though is that they don't let you sleep! With all their in-flight games wowowee style.
Anyway, so while waiting for my flight, I grabbed breakfast from my favorite T3 stall:
Let's Chow
I looked at the menu real quick, but made a quick decision to grab:
White Chicken Rice
I love white chicken, not because of the chicken (although this chicken was good since it tasted like it was native chicken, and the meat was brown. It didn't smell funny too, which is always a problem with other white chicken.) but because of the ginger sauce. Now, that, is always perfect. I love ginger on food.
The broth too was great. It tasted like chicken bones were crushed and powdered and boiled with it. The onion leaks gave it that additional punch.
Oh no I'm hungry again, and it's not even lunch time yet.
I'm going to run today, since I haven't done any running since Friday. I'll do a bit of tweaking, since I skipped yesterday's program.
I'll warmup for 30 minutes, run walk 1 min 2 mins for 30 minutes, and do 30 mins of walking again. An hour and 30. Let's see how much distance I cover.
Ciao.
