Wednesday Run 1 Walk 2 - February 3, 2010

Yesterday was so easy I thought I was going to do really great today.

Guess I was wrong.

..

Drove home, changed into shorts, a really tight BBI shirt.  Got my running shoes on and drove off to the oval.

Specific instructions for the day were:

1) Load up on energy
2) Don't stretch before running (I have no idea why)
3) Run 1 minute
4) Walk 2 minutes

I asked Jubs to define running, because I said yeah I can run 20mins straight, just that I feel like scuffing all the time.

Turns out that isn't running at all.  Running should be fast, like a 9 or a 10 at least on the threadmill he says.  Damnit.  And I'm usually on 4.  hahahaha.

So after a warmup walk of 3 minutes, and without stretching at all, I ran.  As fast as I could.  I was actually concerned about cramping up, since I haven't stretched not one bit.

But I didn't.  I was pretty conscious of the time so I kept looking at my watch, checking if I was running a minute already.  A minute is actually pretty long when you're running for dear life.

At the end of the first minute, I was panting like a hippo after mating.  My face was flushed, my ears wear really hot.  I was literally running after breath.  It's good that I am given 2 minutes of walking after that run.

At the end of 2, I started running again.  Felt my legs burn.  I didn't know there would come a point in my life where I will actually, sincerely regret having quarterpounders.  I was literally wishing for a third lung.

Hingal na hingal.

I thought, and I'm supposed to do this 10 times??? (30 mins).

Damn!

Walked 2.

After 3 or 4 sets, I came to realize that I had that pace.  1 min run was around 200 meters or half an oval, 2 min walk was another.

I finished 10.

Little did I know running could be this fulfilling.  I was praising the high heavens for even letting me live after that excruciating 30 mins.

Definitely looking forward to walk easy 30 tomorrow.

I love interval running.
