February 27, 2010 Part 1

The day before the last day of the month.

Sad too, that it's been a week since my last post in this fitness blog.  A fitness blog that's always mistaken for a food blog because of absence of physical activity on my part.

I started the RPM Project to monitor my daily activity and food intake.

I haven't done both in a week.

I haven't been running because I couldn't make time for it (I admit, I should, and there are no excuses).  I stopped running for a while because I kept having shin splints and sore knees and ankles..  Sad, but was not able to get back into it.

I have now gained 1 of the 2 kilos I supposedly lost.

I now have a fat nape again, and chubbier cheeks.  (shuttup, yes I lost them for a while gadamyu.)

When to get back into it again?  Tomorrow.

Tomorrow would be a good day.

I have also decided to revise the begginer's running program.  I'll do more of muscle strengthening first, and some biking before I get into this again, unless I want to experience more of the excruciating pain brought about by the shin splints and sore ankles.

Sunday.

...

Nonetheless, I still want to write about my foodcapades.  Bare with me as I try to recall everything I had through the pics.

February 20, 2010 - Dinner
Blue Marlin, Puerto Princesa

View from our table

Appetizer.  I could not remember what it's called, but obviously tomatoes, mozarella cheese, some basil, olive oil and vinegrette

16 inch Marina Pizza
(Really good)

Not as creamy as I would've wanted it.  Carbonara.

Steak with French Fries and Pepper Sauce.  Sad that they had to use instant fries, the rest of the plate was  wonderful.

We ended up taking home 3/4 of the order as it was all so damn filling!  Went home and rested.

February 21, 2010

For breakfast, we had fruits.

Oh, and some pizza leftovers from last night.  Oh.  And some carbonara.  (so much for that planned detox breakfast.)

Shakey's Delivery to save lunch.  Bow.

February 21, 2010
Bekah's Bento, Puerto Princesa for Dinner

Katsudon for me.

Ebi Tempura for Trins.

Had some Miso Soup too.

For Dessert, we had stuff from this non-familiar place.  Hhehehe.

Had 1200 calories from this place.

February 22, 2010
Breakfast.

We were to leave for Manila that day, so we had to wake up early to prepare.  We had a bit of every leftover we had, and cooked all the ulam we bought for the weekend.

I designed the rice layout myself.

I'm going to write more later.  Trina's been bugging me to get up and take a bath.  Leaving in a while for another food date with Trina the food monster.

Ciao.

And Then...

February 19 and 20, 2010

Friday.  The day the "other boss" arrived.  Thursday my RSM was here, Friday was the arrival of the queen of my heart. (blech, hahahah)

BREAKFAST

I didn't really have breakfast on time, as I had no more time to do so in the morning.  I was supposed to be in the office really early for a meeting with my key account.

When I got there I found out they haven't arrived, so I decided to grab a snack in my favorite street food stall hallway thingamajig in NCCC Palawan.

I went straight to my favorite stall:

I grabbed the usual:

Fried Noodles with Wanton

And then, I was still hungry.  So I headed straight to my next favorite stall:

Where I grabbed another:

And then,

And then I was still hungry.  So, and then, I went to my third favorite stall:

And then, I was faced with a dilemma:

And then, I quickly decided to get:

Hahaha.  So that was the heaviest brunch ever in my life.

I ate everything under 30mins.  It was GREAT.  I went to my meeting smelling like the kitchen!  It was cool though.  I think.

I went through the whole day, without eating anything anymore!  I wasn't really that hungry, which shouldn't be a surprise given that I had a feast in the morning.

So Trina arrived at around 510pm, and we were not really hungry.  She had her usual tuna pandesal and coffee, her equivalent of my usual siomai and mami in the airport.

Since we were both not that hungry, we decided to go to Nitchie's Vietnamese Chao Long place.

Chao Long

DID YOU KNOW:  That Chao Long is not actually noodles, but rice toppings (or something like that).  Nonetheless, Chao Long is not noodles, as the Vietnamese usually call it under names of Pho.  It came about here in Puerto Princesa, when locals started referring to the noodles as Chao Long, long long ago. Maybe the Vietnamese got tired of correcting them.

Anyway, we each got a Chao Long,

And then:

We also shared Fried Rolls

I had pork BBQ French Bread Sandwich

And then,

Trina had French Bread with butter.

If you're in the mood for some Vietnamese Noodles, and you happen to be in Palawan, head off to Nitchie's.  You'll love it!

(naks parang endorser e.)

FEBRUARY 20, 2010

BREAKFAST

Trina and I agreed that we were going to have a pinoy breakfast so the night before we bought dried fish, daing na pusit and talong!  Check it:

It was great.  I haven't eaten daing in a long time!  Trina loved the saltiness too.  Trina's more of a salt and sugar person, does not like vinegar, eats little rice, gorges on donuts, etc.  Know that type?  No?  Yeah me too.

We watched a bit of Shogun on DVD too.  It was a TV rendition of my favorite book, Jame Clavell's Shogun!  Was amazed to see the amount of attention put into all the details of the book!  Loving it!  (we're disc 3 of 10 ahahaha).

LUNCH

We had lunch late, 210PM!  We had the following from Itoy's:

We were really thirsty since I ran out of water at home.  We each got a fruit shake, I had watermelon and Trina had a Mango Banana Shake.  Checkit>

If you haven't yet, try watermelon shake.  It's the best.  I stopped drinking mango shake because of this.  I stopped smoking because of this.  I stopped cursing, swearing because of this.  I stopped all my vices because of this.  Try it.  It'll change your life.

Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet

Nabawasan agad kasi gutom na si bossing.  Hahaha.

She had:

Which is actually:

Bulalo Steak (Sizzling)

I got this a couple of days ago, and trina said she wanted to try, so we did.

Wait, I can't breathe.  My tummy's putting weight on my diaphragm.

Anyway, she had that, some soup, and rice.  I had the fish fillet.  Naks.  (parang baliktad.)

Actually we just shared.  For dessert, we had this:

A slice of Moist Cake, Sansrival, Capuccino (that I pronounced Capucheno which got Trina cracking up) and Watermelon Shake.  The Shake was for me.

I think we have to run tonight.

Ciao.

Woot!!

(February 16 Lunch - February 18 Merienda!)

Hmm.  I'm having difficulty again, recalling what I ate the past few days!  Hmm...

FEB 16 LUNCH

Oh.  Good thing I kept pictures.  Hahaha.  Okay for lunch I went down to eat with the staff of the distributor I'm handling here in Palawan.  They always have lutong bahay food, which is always, always fresh off the stove.  The rice is always steaming, glistening white, the viands very tasty, despite the simplicity of preparation and packaging!  (no food styling here.. hehehe)

simple lang.

I had half a fish, some chicken afritada (a pc of native chicken) some potatoes and some carrots, plus the nilagang baka.  I only had a bit of everything since I haven't had real workout by this time.  Good thing I was able to in the evening.

RUNNING
It was supposedly walk easy day, so I started off walking easy for 30 minutes at the PPC baywalk.  There were a lot of kid learning to bike, I saw one or two little kids kissing the pavement with their smackers.  It was a lot of fun watching them hurt themselves, as I recalled how my I did hurt myself when I was learning to bike.

Anyway, after 30mins, I did a bit of run 1 min, walk 2 mins, for another thirty minutes.  It actually felt good that I was doing this!  The pain on the shins didn't really bother me much.  It was pretty easy actually.  It was good that I was able to rest.

Anyway the next day was Run-Walk day, Run 2 mins, Walk 1 minute.

Don't stop reading.

FEBRUARY 17

Breakfast
I got up around 530am that day since the boss was coming to attend the area business review.  It was pretty easy getting up since I kinda slept a bit earlier than usual.  I walked to my fridge and prepared my tuna-mustard sandwich (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's tuna spread, but instead of mayo, I used mustard.)  I drank half a liter of water and then drove off to the oval.

RUN2 WALK1 Day.
I started off with a longer warmup, 30 mins of walking.  I did this since I felt the stiffness of my thigh muscles and calves again.

After that warmup I started running.  It was an easy first 2 minutes of running at first, but then when I started walking I felt the thinness of the air in the morning.  It's pretty difficult to breathe cold air!  Especially when you're out of shape!

So I did another 2 rounds of that when I started feeling my calves stiff up, and my thighs hurt.  It was okay though as I was kind of used to that pain, but the pain in the ankles were crazy.  Add the fact that I was panting like a slutty pig after a g-thang.

on my 5th round everything started to hurt like crazy hell, so I decided to stop.  You're not supposed to continue if you feel pain in a workout, so I decided to walk off the remaining time of the 30 mins.  After I drove off to my house, where I took a cold shower (pasma! is not true) and went to the office.

LUNCH
Since I had guests from Manila, we decided to eat at Ka Lui, where we feasted like marines after a victory over guerillas.  I only managed to take a picture of the soup, since the people started asking why I was taking pics.  Nahiya na tuloy.

Halaan Soup

This is one of my very favorites, since it's very easy on the tounge.  Not too flavorful, but always, always heavy on the aroma of ginger.  It almost tastes like salabat, or ginger brew, if only I have had experience with that.

We went on to have lunch that involved ginaataang igat (eel), inihaw na pusit (squid), Pan seared Blue Marlin, Some prawns, Crispy Tuna Tail, and Some Pakbet.

Not much for a person trying to lose weight like his life depended on it.

DINNER

For dinner, I went with my boss and the rest of the guests to Kinabuch.  There, we had Seafood Soup (forget what its called) some Grilled Suran, Inihaw na tuna tail, Gambas.  This evening though, was different when my boss forced me to have this:

Tamilok

Tamilok is wood worm that lives off dead wood.

Yes.  Dead wood.  Worm.  Invertebrae.

Long ass Muther*er.

I finished half the plate, as my boss did too.  It was crazy, as I kinda liked the texture of it.  Slimy yet rubbery in the same time.  It felt like oysters, although oyster are much more tasty.  These have to be eaten with vinegar, to kill of the micro little people living inside.

Yes.  Microscopic people live inside.  People with ears, tongues, legs.  Only small.  I killed them with vinegar first.

FEBRUARY 18

Breakfast
After bringing my boss to the airport, I drove off to eat breakfast in Chowking.  I knew what I was going to eat when I saw this:

King's Breakfast

Iggyeah.  I'm a king!  Fried egg, Tapa, Longanisa and Ham with Fried Rice.  Your weekly dietary allowance in one plate!

LUNCH

For lunch I had to go out and eat at a cafe called Itoy's because I was trying to download stuff.  Here's my very healthy lunch:

Sizzling Bulalo

Sabaw ng Bulalo

Stop laughing.  I was supposed to eat salad, but the table beside me ate this.

What, I was going to let the opportunity pass me???

MERIENDA

For merienda today, I had something very different!  Check it:

hmm

You've heard of all-cheese pizza right?

You've had all-meat pizza, I'm sure.

You've definitely had one of those seafood pizzas, and all veggie pizza I'm sure!

Well guess what, I had all fruit and cheese pizza today.

Yes!  It was amazing!  Like a fu*ing fruit cocktail on cheese and pizza.  I wouldn't have believed if I had not tried, but it was cool.

I'm not saying it's fantastic.  It's something that grows on you.  It's like, eating cottoncandy with a spoon and som fresh milk (note to self, try THAT).

Hahaha.  Okay, its 7pm now, I've to go and run.

See you guys tomorrow.  (naks, feeling may nagbabasa).  Hi to Carlo-effing-Agbayani, who says he reads this once a week!  Booyah!  Idol kita pare.  Hahaha.
